Local Natives (formerly known as Cavil at Rest) is an indie rock band from Los Angeles, USA. Their debut album, Gorilla Manor, first released in UK late last year, has been described as “afropop-influenced guitars with hyperactive drumming and hooky three-part harmonies”. Let me tell you, if you like the sound that feature rich harmonies just like what you heard from Fleet Foxes or Grizzly Bear, I’m sure you’ll love this.

Something Good Can Work

I really like this three-piece Irish band. Apart from “I Can Talk” and “What You Know” which are already very popular out there, this track is also getting to be one of the DJ’s favorite as I saw/listened to many remixes of it. Here’re some examples of better remixes of this song and IMAO, unlike the Moulinex’s remix of “I Can Talk” which totally ruined the original, these ones do not.

Santa Clause Is Coming To Town

No, the title ain’t wrong, Santa Clause is coming for real to Bangkok this March bringing fine pieces of music for BKKers.

Starting with Placebo who just awarded the Best Alternative from MTV European Music. They’re having a tour promoting their 6th album ‘Battle for the Sun’ on March 20th. Too bad I’m gonna miss their gig since I’ll be off Bangkok during that weekend!

Then continue with one of the best folk-pop artists, Kings of Convenience. Erland and Eirik will be here on March 23th. At first I thought I’ll miss them because the tickets were sold out in just a couple of days! Luckily the organizer decided to change the venue to serve the huge number of fans and I was fast enough to grab the ticket this time!

And the last gig, Frankmusik, a British electro-pop artist will join a bunch of DJs here spinning on March 27th. You better get yourself exercised ready for the party because this is gonna be a real murder on the dancefloor!

     While the rest of the world spin like every normal day, there’s one place the time has stopped (if not moving backward). Haiti, the place where the routine cruel natural disaster has stepped by. Hurricane in New Orleans, Tsunami in South Asia, now it’s the Earthquake that kills number of Haitians. What’s next? And who’s next? Never wanna think about that.

Golden Era for Remix Music

   By the time I post this blog, I just realize that statiscally in one day I listen to electro/house beat music the most especially the remix tune. It has been just recent years since I started listening deeply to this genre and I have to say it really catches my interest. Listening to remix shares something in common with cover; the special connection the artists have with the original, and that makes it special track.
   Not like 4-5 years ago when Post Punk and Indie Rock music were all around and most youngsters wanna play guitar and be in the bands like the Libertines, the Strokes, or Kings of Leon, now everyone’s talking about David Guetta, Justice, and Hot Chip and how cool these DJs/Electro groups are.
   Here’s some nice remixes in my playlist which I’m pretty sure these stuffs are beginner-friendly that could better your attitude to remix genre. Try them and leave the comment which one you like the most!
